Remembering Dr. Stachler: A Life That Touched So Many
AAOA Staff
By now, many of you have heard the heartbreaking news of the passing of Robert Stachler, MD, FAAOA. Like so many of you, we are still trying to process this tremendous loss.
Dr. Stachler was many things: a father, a husband, a surgeon, a mentor, a leader within AAOA, and, to us, a dear friend. He had a wonderful way of bringing happiness to those around him. He was someone you could count on, someone who was always there for others, and someone whose warmth and kindness left a lasting impression. We feel incredibly fortunate to have known him and to have had him as part of our AAOA family.
As messages continue to pour in from colleagues and friends who are grieving his loss, we are reminded of just how many lives he touched and how deeply he was loved. Each message is another reminder of the impact he had, not only through his work and dedication, but also through the person he was. He will be remembered for so much more than his contributions; he will be remembered for the genuine care, friendship, and happiness he brought to others.
Dr. Stachler dedicated more than 25 years to AAOA and served as Coordinator of Education since 2021 and Secretary prior. His commitment to resident education and continuing medical education has left an enduring legacy that will continue to shape our community for years to come.
Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers are with his family and everyone who is mourning this profound loss.
Dr. Stachler, you will be deeply missed. Thank you for your friendship, your kindness, your laughter, and all that you gave to AAOA. It was a privilege to know you, and we will carry your memory in our hearts.
