The American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA) represents over 2,700 Board-certified otolaryngologists and health care providers. Otolaryngology, frequently referred to as Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT), uniquely combines medical and surgical expertise to care for patients with a variety of conditions affecting the ears, nose, and throat, as well as commonly related conditions. AAOA members devote part of their practice to the diagnosis and treatment of allergic disease. The AAOA actively supports its membership through education, research, and advocacy in the care of allergic patients.

Robert Schleimer, MD, PhD

Dr. Schleimer majored in Biology at The University of California, San Diego. He received a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology at UC Davis. Dr. Schleimer received post-doctoral fellowship training at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the Division of Clinical Immunology. Dr. Schleimer joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins in 1981 and became Professor of Medicine in 1992. Dr. Schleimer moved to Chicago to become the Roy and Elaine Patterson Chair and Chief of the Division of Allergy-Immunology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in the spring of 2004. Dr. Schleimer has published over 390 papers and was recognized as one of the most highly cited researchers of the last two decades worldwide by The Institute for Scientific Information (ISI). He has had continuous NIH funding for 35 years and presently has a P01 program project grant to study chronic rhinosinusitis, a T32 training grant and a R01 on AERD as PI. He has served on numerous NIH committees and advisory boards for pharmaceutical companies and biotechnology firms. Dr. Schleimer is a cofounder of Allakos, a publicly traded company developing a new therapy for a variety of allergic diseases mediated by mast cells and eosinophils. He is presently actively involved in studying the molecular mechanisms of allergic disease, focusing on inflammation, innate and adaptive immunity, cytokines and chemokines, food allergy, the molecular basis for anti-inflammatory steroid action in allergic diseases and the mechanisms of pathogenesis in Chronic Rhinosinusitis.

Thomas Casale, MD

Dr Casale is Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics and Chief of Clinical and Translational Research at University of South Florida Division of Allergy and Immunology in Tampa. He is a Past President of the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology and was Executive Vice President for 10 years. He has served on the board of directors for the American Thoracic Society, The World Allergy Organization, and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology where he was also chair. Dr. Casale’s research interests include the determination and treatment of the pathophysiologic mechanisms involved in asthma, COPD and allergic diseases. He has published over 425 scientific papers, reviews and chapters on these topics. He is currently the Chief Medical Advisor for FARE (Food Allergy Research and Education).

Amy Anderson, MBA

Amy is a dynamic and innovative problem-solver who is highly regarded by physicians for her engaging leadership style, intimate understanding of practice operations, and deep appreciation for the patient experience. She seeks solutions to the constantly evolving challenges and demands imposed on physicians and administrators by finding opportunities to streamline processes.
Amy’s expertise comes from more than 15 years of working in physician offices, including private and hospital-based practices and an academic division before becoming a consultant. Her experiences provide a comprehensive understanding of practice operations, physician compensation, health information systems, marketing, financial management, and human resource management in each setting.
Prior to joining KarenZupko & Associates, Amy was the Service Line Administrator/ Division Administrator for Plastic Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine. There she held a dyad leadership role alongside the Chief of Plastic Surgery to manage and lead the clinical, education, and research missions of the division. Read More

Teresa Thompson, BS, CPC, CMSCS, CCC

Teresa Thompson, BS, CPC, CMSCS, CCC, is the owner and
principal of TM Consulting, a national medical consulting and management firm that specializes in
coding, compliance, education and a wide range of consulting services to healthcare professionals
specializing in respiratory diseases. Ms. Thompson conducts workshops and seminars for various clinics,
organizations and national organizations. Teresa Thompson offers seminars and consulting services for
ENT practices as well as working with the AAAAI throughout the year with various webinars, national conferences, and coding consulting. Ms. Thompson has over three decades working with physicians and their staff to train and resolve practice management.

Cancellation Policy

Registration fees are non-transferable. Refunds for paid registrations (less a 50% administration fee) may be considered for cancellations received in writing by the AAOA prior to August 13, 2019.

Cancellations received after August 13, 2019 are non-refundable.
