Welcome

Celebrating Over 75 Years Of Service

The American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA) represents over 2,700 Board-certified otolaryngologists and health care providers. Otolaryngology, frequently referred to as Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT), uniquely combines medical and surgical expertise to care for patients with a variety of conditions affecting the ears, nose, and throat, as well as commonly related conditions. AAOA members devote part of their practice to the diagnosis and treatment of allergic disease. The AAOA actively supports its membership through education, research, and advocacy in the care of allergic patients.

"Dedicated to enhancing knowledge and skill in the care of the allergic patient."

PATIENT CORNER

Avoidance

Resident Travel Grants

In an effort to enable residents to attend our programs, the AAOA offers Resident Travel Grant awards for the Basic and Advanced Courses as well as our Annual Meeting.

Designed to assist residents with travel and accommodation costs, travel awards are given to those residents who apply by the registration deadline.  For each award, the registration fee is waived or refunded.  (We encourage residents to register ahead of the award notification because courses do fill up quickly.)

Because the AAOA’s goal is to assist as many residents as possible while still awarding a considerable amount, we will not know exactly how much assistance will be awarded until after the registration deadline.  However, cash awards can range between $150 and $500.

In order to apply for a Resident Travel Grant, you must currently be an AAOA Resident member in good standing or submit a completed application form with your grant application.  Presenters, including podium and poster presenters, are also eligible for the Annual Meeting Travel Grants.

Resident Travel Grant Application Requirements

To apply for a resident travel grant, e-mail the following components to Elisabeth Herzfeld at eherzfeld@aaoallergy.org

  • AAOA Resident member or Resident member candidate with a complete application
    (download here)
  • A letter expressing your interest in the AAOA and its programs, as well as why you should be a grant recipient
  • A letter of recommendation from Program Director on letterhead

Please make sure that you list all of your contact information with your application including your preferred mailing address, phone number, fax number (if available), and e-mail address.  We prefer to correspond by e-mail, so please include your primary email address.

You can also mail in your application to the address below.  Please note that grant applications are considered on a first-come basis, so e-mailing your application is advised.  All applications must be complete and postmarked by the due date in order to be reviewed and considered.
