Celebrating Over 80 Years Of Service!

The American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA) represents over 2,700 Board-certified otolaryngologists and health care providers. Otolaryngology, frequently referred to as Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT), uniquely combines medical and surgical expertise to care for patients with a variety of conditions affecting the ears, nose, and throat, as well as commonly related conditions. AAOA members devote part of their practice to the diagnosis and treatment of allergic disease. The AAOA actively supports its membership through education, research, and advocacy in the care of allergic patients.

"Advance the comprehensive management of allergy and inflammatory disease in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery through training, education, and advocacy."

Resident Opportunities

The Interactive Allergy & Rhinology Course (IAR) has amazing opportunities for residency training programs and residents to expand their allergy and immunology training.

Residents can attend the course three different ways:

AAOA Sponsorship

Every year, the AAOA sponsors residents from ACGME-accredited otolaryngology training programs to help support their residency training in allergy and immunology. The sponsorship for residents included registration for the Core Basic Allergy Module on Saturday, travel, and program participation. Residents need to be nominated by their training program chair or training program director and must be an AAOA resident member/resident member candidate to qualify. Sponsorship opportunities are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To nominate a resident for consideration, please download and complete the AAOA Nomination Form along with a letter of recommendation from the resident’s Training Program Chair or Director. Nominations may be e-mailed to aaoa@aaoaf.org or faxed to (202) 955-5016.

AAOA-sponsored residents are funded for the Allergy component of the meeting, which is Friday to Saturday. Residents also have the option to attend a rhinology module on Sunday at an additional cost, which includes registration and hotel accommodations for Saturday evening.

Note: If the resident you would like to nominate is not an AAOA member, learn more about membership benefits on the membership application page

Training Program Sponsorship

Training program can sponsor their AAOA member residents to attend the Interactive Allergy & Rhinology Course (IAR) at reduced rates. Training programs that would like to send more than one resident can benefit from additional savings if the residents share rooms. Please note that the program/resident would be responsible for the flight.  To sponsor a resident to attend the Interactive Allergy & Rhinology Course (IAR) at reduced rate please download and complete the Training Program Nomination Form and e-mailed to aaoa@aaoaf.org or faxed to (202) 955-5016.

Note: Residents must be AAOA members to be eligible for the reduced rate.

Resident Sponsorship

Residents are welcome to fund their own registration for the Interactive Allergy & Rhinology Course (IAR). Resident members can benefit from a member rate. Residents that are not AAOA members will have to pay the full non-member rate if they wish to attend the course.

For more information, please contact Elisabeth Herzfeld at (202) 955-5010, ext. 600 or by e-mail at aaoa@aaoaf.org.
